Just over a year ago, my wife and I received a letter from a supporting church. The letter informed us of their decision to end financial support.
We were a bit rattled. We had hoped the church would be a long-term financial partner. They covered a big chunk of our budget at $416.67 per month ($5,000 per year)!
The letter brought us to our knees in prayer. We acknowledged to God that He is in charge of our financial situation and our Great Provider.
Before sending out a panicked newsletter – an S.O.S to our current partners – we asked Him to raise up the funds to cover the lost support one way or the other.
Over the next three months several of our partners increased their level of support. That was exciting news! We thanked the Lord for their generosity. In the same period, three new people joined our team in prayer and in financial support.
In just three months, God moved in the hearts of six different people, all unrelated by location. After learning about the sixth person, my wife decided to crunch some numbers. To our shock, those six additions totaled $416.67 per month!
I told my wife, “That can’t be right – run those numbers again!”
She did and they were absolutely right! We were so elated and in awe of God’s precise provision!
We had never made our need known to anyone except the Lord. We often share our needs via conversations with others or our newsletters. But when we received the church’s letter informing us of their decision, we just felt led to pray and keep our mouths shut.
I am so glad we followed the Spirit’s leading. He displayed His great care and provisions for us in an incredible way.
The next time you are wondering if God sees and cares, just remember: $416.67.
