Bethlehem Birth in Poetic Prophecy

Both Sarah[1] and Hannah[2]
And miraculous manna[3]
All looking ahead
To the fulness of time.[4]
A birth sublime
Heralded by an angel to shepherds at night[5]
A King to be born[6]
A people in darkness shall see a great light.[7]
A Bethlehem baby as Micah foretold[8]
Prophetic allusions now would unfold
A virgin with child that she would bear[9]
God would be with us and yet with humanity share.[10]
A body prepared that came to atone[11]
His death would bring life
His life would bring truth[12]
He would rise from the dead[13]
As Isaiah had said.
The gift that He gives is better than gold[14]
He reconciles to God those in His fold
As the Good Shepherd Himself written of old[15]
A Priest and a King, the Lord, and a Lamb.[16]
Who would have thought[17]
The One Herod had sought[18]
A root from dry ground[19]
Who carried our shame[20]
The body He gave to cover our blame[21]
Salvation embodied for that is His name.[22]
