Digital Seekers

What do you do when life beats you down and you are looking for hope? For many people, they turn to the internet!

The past two years have made it clear that people are looking for hope! In large geopolitical issues, and in personal struggles, people are searching for something that will give them hope for the future. In our disconnected society, it is often easier to Google an answer to a question than to ask another person. This is true with personal problems and even spiritual issues.

Around 25% of Jewish people worldwide don’t live in large metro areas* where Jewish evangelistic efforts are centered. That’s four million Jewish people who have little chance to hear the gospel in person. But many are looking online for hope. And we are there to meet them!

Life in Messiah staff around the world engage in digital outreach through videos, social media, and ads – seeking those who are searching for truth, but don’t know where to look. In addition to theological questions, Jewish people engage with us about antisemitism, addictions, loneliness, and more. People are looking for hope online, and we have the answer in Jesus!

Watch to hear the story of *Anthony, a Jewish musician whose journey to faith started with questions online.

  • Anthony rushed feverishly down the street in Paris as he tried to make it on time. He was late again. Life was a real struggle for him, and he was trying so hard to keep it all together. He couldn’t lose this job. Racing into the bar with guitar in tow, he asked for the owner. Beads of sweat dotted his forehead as he waited. The owner appeared and regretfully informed Anthony that he could not afford to hire him for the night.

“WAIT!” Anthony protested, “I’ve come so far! Please…my music is sure to draw a big crowd for you…I PROMISE!”

“You remind me of my cousin,” the owner replied. “He is also very persistent. I think we can work something out for tonight.”

Anthony sighed in relief and made his way over to a table where he had invited a few new online friends to see him play.

Anthony was Jewish, from a religious family, and was raised to be antagonistic towards Jesus. But he, like so many other people, was searching. His struggles in life had sent him online seeking hope. Weeks before, he had stumbled upon a cartoon series published by Life in Messiah staff in France. The creative explanations of the weekly Torah reading had captured Anthony’s interest. Even though they lived 400 miles apart, he had developed a friendship with a LIFE staff member in Paris and they now sat across the table that evening.

“I am afraid I don’t know much about this miracle working Messiah that you speak of,” he said. The conversation led to ideas of sin, separation from God, and Jesus offering eternal forgiveness. As the conversation continued, he expressed a deep desire that his life would be filled with miracles, health, stability, a steady job, a spouse!

Our staff member replied that the greatest miracle was the one of repentance and salvation through Jesus the Messiah.

Towards the end of this hour-long conversation, Anthony looked up and said “I’m ready! Pray for me now.”

After further discussion, with a complete understanding of the gospel, Anthony began to pray on his own…seeking forgiveness and professing his new faith in Jesus.

Later that evening Anthony filled a hotel lobby with his enraptured rendition of HALLELUJAH from Leonard Cohen. The joy was tangible. It was a one hundred and eighty degree turn right in front of them!

Anthony is just one of many Jewish people who have not been reached with the gospel. Life in Messiah staff around the world engage in digital outreach through videos, social media, and ads, seeking those, like Anthony, who are searching for truth, but don’t know where to look.
